EXTENT OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT EDUCATION AUTHORITY INVOLVEMENT IN THE ADMINISTRATION OF PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN ENUGU STATE, NIGERIA

The study centered on the extent of local government education authority involvement in the administration of primary schools in Enugu State. The population for the study consisted of 8620 teachers and 321 head teachers given a total of 8941, while the sample for the study is total of 894 respondents. Questionnaire was designed to elicit appropriate information from the respondents. The reliability co-efficient of the instrument was calculated using cronbanch Alpha method. The overall Alpha value was found to be 0.93 indicating high reliability of the instrument. Mean score with standard deviation were used to answer the research questions, and t-test statistic was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. Findings of the study indicated that there is great extent to which local government education authority get involved in the provision of fund for primary schools in Enugu state. Based on this, it was recommended that Local government education authority should put more efforts in the provision of funds and the necessary teaching facilities for effective administration.
