CHALLENGES MILITATING AGAINST THE ORGANISATION OF GUIDANCE ORIENTATION SERVICE IN ADULT EDUCATION CENTRES IN ENUGU URBAN OF ENUGU STATE

Abstract

The study investigated the Challenges Militating against the organization of guidance orientation service in Adult Education Centres in Enugu urban of Enugu State.  Two research questions were posed and survey research design was used to carry out the study.  The population of the study consisted of the forty (40) Staff in the Six Adult Education Centres under study.  The population of the study was studied; hence there was no sampling of the population of the study.   Research instrument called challenges to Guidance Orientation Service Provision Questionnaire (CGOSPQ) was used to generate data for the study. The instrument was validated by two experts in Guidance and Counselling and one expert in Measurement and Evaluation from Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Agbani. Cronbach Alpha statistic was used to ascertain the reliability coefficient of the instrument.  A high reliability coefficient of .82 was obtained.  This showed that the instrument was reliable.   Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions.  Results obtained from the data analyses showed that government has no policy on Guidance Services in the Adult Education Programme implementation in Enugu State and subsequently makes no logistics provision for its implementation.  The Adult Education Centres Administration does not include Guidance Orientation Service Provision in the Centres scheme of things.   Based on the findings of the study; conclusion and recommendations of the study were made
