Abstract

The paper explores the concepts and meaning of adult education and poverty. It presents adult education as a field of study that offers great opportunities for individual development and social mobility for poverty reduction. It argues that the future prosperity of any country depends largely on its active human resource development. This paper recommended: the need to place less emphasis on paper qualification (certificates). It also advocated the need to re-introduce craft and handwork in all levels of education system to reduce poverty in the society.
