EXTENT OF IMPLEMENTATION OF CIVIC EDUCATION PROGRAMME OBJECTIVE AS PERCEIVED BY THE STAKEHOLDERS IN ENUGU STATE

This study assessed the extent of implementation of Civic Education Programme objective, as perceived by the stakeholders in Enugu State. One research questions and one research hypothesis guided the study. Survey research was adopted for the study. The total population of 850 personnel (consisting of 845 facilitators and 5 administrators) in the five local government areas with functional Adult Education centers in Enugu state were used. The instrument used for data collection was a structured questionnaire titled Adult Education Programme Objectives Assessment Questionnaire (AEPOAQ) developed by the researcher with nine questionnaire items. This instrument was validated by three experts. The reliability-co-efficient of 0.81 was obtained using cronbach Alpha co-related method mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions. The hypothesis was tested at 0.05 significant level using t-test. The result of the study revealed that facilitators and administrators agreed that Enugu State implements Civic Education to a low extent.
There is no significant difference between the mean perception scores of Enugu State facilitators and administrators on implementation of Civic Education. Based on these findings, recommendations on how to activate and improve civic education programmes in Enugu State were made.
