Abstract

This study assessed the extent of implementation of vocational education programme, as perceived by the stakeholders in Enugu State. One research questions and one null hypothesis guided the study. Survey research was adopted for the study. The total population of 850 personnel (consisting of 845 facilitators and 5 administrators) in the five local government areas with functional Adult Education Centres in Enugu State were used. The instrument used for data collection was a structured questionnaire titled Adult Education Programme Objectives Assessment Questionnaire (AEPOAQ) developed by the researcher with nine questionnaire items. This instrument was validated by three experts. The reliability co-efficient of 0.80 was obtained using Cronbach Alpha co-relation method. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions. The hypotheses was tested at 0.05 significant level using t-test. The result of the study revealed that facilitators and administrators agreed that Enugu State implements vocational education to a low extent. There is no significant difference between the mean perception scores of Enugu State facilitators and administrators on implementation of vocational education. Based on these findings, recommendations on how to activate and improve vocational education programmes in Enugu State were made
